LCT RatingҬ ҬPanelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Ensemble TheatreҪs production of The Mountaintop, with a 4 star rating. The Mountaintop is an evocative imagining of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his encounter with a hotel maid on the eve of his assassination.
Panelists decribed The Mountaintop as “œa mind-blowing evening of theater“”incredible and imaginative.“ Lynn Meyer“™s direction was commended: “œOne of the best directing jobs I have seen from Lynn Myers, possibly ever. Her steady, fluid, unpretentious choices“¦were dignified and perfectly understated.“ Both actors in this two person play, Gavin Lawrence as Dr. King and Torie Wiggins as Camae were praised extensively: “œThe chemistry between them is engaging from the beginning.“ Lawrence was “œconvincing“ and Wiggins showed “œdepth and range.“ Many of the production aspects of the play were also recognized. Set designer Brian C. Mehring“™s set depicting the Lorraine Motel was full of detail that “œseemed to transport us back in time“, and Mehring“™s lighting design, along with Matthew Tibb“™s sound design, “œcollaborated to create a lightning/thunderstorm so realistic I jumped in my seat.“
The Mountaintop continues through April 6th. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.ensemblecincinnati.org.
