This is my EXTREMELY short list as there as so many incredible productions and theatre companies in the Cincinnati area. I’ve already got my tickets for 18 shows this season and there’s still so many more I want to see! What shows will make your short list this year?

Shelby’s LCT Theatre Preview ’24-’25 Season

Theatre is thriving in Cincinnati as we dive into the ’24-’25 season. With so many options and overlapping dates how can you possibly choose? I’ve laid out my personal short list for shows that I am most excited about this season. Keep in mind this is my EXTREMELY short list as there as so many incredible productions and theatre companies in the Cincinnati area. I’ve already got my tickets for 18 shows this season and there’s still so many more I want to see! What shows will make your short list this year? 

Covedale Center for the Performing Arts

This October, catch the fan favorite musical Something Rotten! At the Covedale Center for Performing Arts. With a stellar production team featuring Jay Goodlett, Greg Dastillung, and Tina DeAlderete, this show is sure have audiences screaming for more. CCM Musical

CCM introduces a lesser-known musical, In The Green, the story of medieval composer, mystic, scientist, and Catholic saint Hildegard von Bingen. You have never heard anything like this powerful new musical by singer-songwriter Grace McLean, known for originating the role of Marya in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812.   This musical will run TWO weekends, October 10-19,  with 8 chances to see this mesmerizing new work of art. Know Theatre of Cincinnati

The Know will host the world premiere of Die Hard is a Christmas Movie, A shot-for-shot remake of the perennial action classic, set inside the suburban home of a family on the brink of collapse. This new take on an old classic is sure to have audiences dying for more! You can catch this premiere December 6-22. Purchase SEATS and spend an evening in OTR with a new Christmas classic.

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati has stepped up their game for their final season before they move to the Emery Theatre. Standing far out above the rest is Disney’s Frozen JR. which is sure to have every actress is town auditioning and every Disney lover grabbing tickets. Don’t be fooled by the “children’s theatre” in their namesake, these shows feature professional actors and production teams from around the country creating an amazing experience for all theatre goers (children not required). Although this show does not open until April 2025, tickets are already flying out the door. Be sure to grab yours now so you don’t miss out on this breathtaking experience! Cincinnati Shakespeare Company

Mrs. Dalloway Poster

CSC’s season is, as always, incredible! However, the addition of Mrs. Dalloway A New Musical has caught many season subscribers eyes. This musical, with music, book, and lyrics by Lindsey Augusta Merger, is inspired by the Virigina Wolfe novel. It is 1923 and the pandemic and WWI have ravaged Europe, but Clarissa Dalloway is determined to throw the greatest party London has ever seen. Don’t miss this World Premiere of Virginia Woolf’s iconic introspective novel reimagined for the stage. Get your SEATS now for this May presentation.

Under its new Theatre Director, Tyler Gabbard, The Carnegie has soared to new heights, quickly becoming one of, if not the, top choice for theatre goers in Cincinnati. Recently, The Carnegie announced that they will be remounting the fan favorite from this past season, The Rocky Horror Show, with much of the same cast. This year, audiences will have the option to attend the midnight showing ON HALLOWEEN. Cincinnati offers a thriving arts community that rivals cities across the country. Keep in mind that the list above is only a short list of the amazing theatres we have available in Cincinnati: from Professional Regional Theatres, to semi-professional, to academic to Broadway tours, and even our own Cincinnati Fringe.

I challenge you to research other theatres and their seasons to come up with your own short list of shows you would like to see and GET YOUR TICKETS NOW. We have seen a number of completely sold-out runs this past season so make sure you don’t miss out this season. We encourage you to attend at least one, if not more, productions at each League of Cincinnati Member Theatres.
